Provence Inspiration for the Impressionists Summer, 2009 Your Plein Air painting experience is to be found in the very heart of Provence. The Masters were drawn to the extraordinary light of this region and gave the world their view of its unique beauty. Now we'll paint alongside the spirits of Cezanne, Van Gogh, Matisse and others taking our inspiration from the natural beauty of this artist's paradise. Paint Provence and make it your Own!
Our week will be spent on a secluded, restored historic farm. Everywhere we turn will be olive groves, vineyards, orchards, plane trees and gardens of Provence. Our home is in easy reach of the charming villages which we'll be painting.
Our day will begin with a simple breakfast and each evening we'll savor traditional homemade Provencal cuisine accompanied by local wines. and three lunches are also included. We'll have opportunity to enjoy ourselves at the local cafes when in town.
Midweek, we'll take an afternoon to visit Avignon, and the spectacular Roman aquaduct at Pont du Gard - there are a few more surprises for that afternoon! As part of the painting schedule, we'll even get to a colorful outdoor market. Each day is better than the day before!
The workshop will take place during the Lavender Season! Imagine the exciting views of rows and rows of purple fields - lavender permeating the air while you paint - such inspiration! Workshop includes: . 7 nights, 8 days in a beautifully restored stone farmhouse among 12 acres of private gardens and panoramic views. Shared bath facilities. . Daily breakfast. 3 lunches and 7 dinners with local wines served. . 6 1/2 days of Intense art Instruction. Work in oil, watercolor or pastels. All Levels. . Demos in oils; individual critiques; one-on-one painting & drawing instruction . Painting in St. Remy en Provence, Roussillon (the red city) and other selected sites. . 1/2 Day tour Avignon & environs. . Transportation to/from Airports / Railroad Station and Hotel may be arranged in advance - call for prices.
The farm is about 2 1/2 hours by train from Paris on the TGV which leaves from the Charles de Gaulle airport and arrives in Avignon which is about 10 miles away. You may also fly into Marseille and arrange for a driver to bring you to our location.

Groups of 12 - Plan your own Workshop or Paint-out: Special group Workshops available. Select your desired location and dates and we will develop a customized art workshop plan for people who want to travel as a group. We also offer reduced rates for paint-outs, non-instructed programs which involve everyone just painting together. A minimum of 12 people is required.
