Provence - Lavender! June 13 - 20, 2009 Inspiration of the Impressionists

Your Plein Air painting experience is to be found in the very heart of Provence. The Masters were drawn to the extraordinary light of this region and gave the world their view of its unique beauty. Now we'll paint alongside the spirits of Cezanne, Van Gogh, Matisse and others taking our inspiration from the natural beauty of this artist's paradise. Paint Provence and make it your Own!
The workshop will take place at the start of the Lavender Season! Our week will be spent painting in what have been declared as "the most beautiful villages of Provence."Everywhere we turn will be olive groves, vineyards, orchards, gardens and the beloved fountains of Provence. Unwind at a wine tasting and picnic lunch in a private vineyard. Discover galleries and shops filled with irresistible pottery. Relax and renew as we sip local wine and dine "al fresco" under the shade of plane trees feasting on the delicious "cuisine of the sun." Create paintings, friendships and memories that fill the senses.
We're confident upon your return the thought of the scent lavender and the whirring of the cicadas will transport you back to a land you will come to love - such inspiration! As part of the painting schedule, we'll spend time at a colorful open-air market laden with vegetables, fruits, herbs, 17 types of olives, lavender, soaps, and fabrics bursting with color. Each day is better than the day before! Workshop includes: . 7 nights, 8 days lodgings, each room with private bath . Daily breakfast. 3 lunches and 6 dinners included . 6 1/2 days of Intense art Instruction. Work in oil, watercolor or pastels. All Levels. . Demos in oils; individual critiques; one-on-one painting & drawing instruction . Painting in selected sites; transportation provided. Air not included.
Workshop Price: Artist $2,975 & Non-painting Guest $2,675 Double Occupancy. Single rooms are limited, and on a first come, first served basis. Single supplement charge: $425 p/p
Transportation to/from Airports/Railroad Station & Hotel must be arranged in advance - call for prices. We suggest guests fly/train into Nice and we'll arrange for your pick-up. Alternately, you may rent a car however, it is not necessary as we have arranged for transportation to all painting sites / activities during the time of the workshop.
Groups of 12 - Plan your own Workshop or Paint-out: Special group Workshops available. Select your desired location and dates and we will develop a customized art workshop plan for people who want to travel as a group. We also offer reduced rates for paint-outs, non-instructed programs which involve everyone just painting together. A minimum of 12 people is required.
