Fine art portraiture, landscapes and art workshops
Original oil paintings by Sam D'Ambruoso Dedicated in producing original portraits and paintings of American landscapes and the Italian countryside. Sam paints in a post-impressionist realist style expressing his enthusiasm for the artistic use of light and dark values. He particularly loves the challenge of "chasing the light" by capturing landscapes en plein air.
Traveling Palette™ Art Workshops: Italy & USA since 1997 Sam shares his passion for classical drawing and painting techniques by providing art instruction. His popular international workshops have drawn beginners to advanced artists from the US, Canada, Europe & Caribbean. He hosts Traveling Palette™ Art Workshops in Tuscany, Sicily, Amalfi, Italy & Provence; in New England at Old Lyme, CT & Block Island, RI. These trips are comprised of small groups of plein air artists (no more than 12) working in a creative, supportive atmosphere. Constructive, individual critiques and instruction are available as part of each day's painting session.
Non-painting guests are welcome and encouraged to come. While the artists paint, guests may enjoy a wide choice of site seeing programs and cooking lessons in Italy.
Art Instruction Programs in Connecticut. Art classes in landscape, still life and portraiture are designed for the serious beginner, intermediate and advanced artist and are available at his studio in Middlebury, CT. Sam's art instruction centers on developing the sound drawing skills and painting techniques needed to create compelling paintings. Individual attention and critiques are given.
